Text Box: CHRISTMAS FLOWER
MEMORIAL

Each year our parishioners and friends are invited to participate in the “Flower Memorial Fund” where the money received is used to purchase the poinsettias and decorations for our Church at Christmas. A Memorial Book is prepared that lists your name and the names of those you wish to remember.

If you would like to remember your loved ones in a very special way, please return the form below to the Rectory by Monday, December 18.

On Tuesday, December 26 many of the poinsettia plants will be given to the sick and shut-in of our parish. In this way, they are able to share in the Christmas celebration of Holy Cross. Thank you!

ALL NIGHT VIGIL

The World Apostolate of Fatima of the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis is sponsoring an All-Night Vigil of prayer and reparation at St. John’s Catholic Church, 977 East 5th Street in St. Paul.  The vigil begins on Friday, December 1, 8:00 p.m., and closes on Saturday, December 2, with Mass at 4:00 a.m.  Everyone is invited to attend all or some of this devotion.  651-776-5764.

The Jesse Tree

The prophet Isaiah says of the coming king we all await: “A shoot shall sprout from the stump of Jesse and from his roots a bud shall blossom.”  Our Savior has human ancestors.  His family goes back to Jesse, the father of King David.  David was the first member of a new royal family which ruled over Israel for many years.

When we make a Jesse Tree, we remember the family of Jesus and all those people throughout history who helped prepare the world for the coming of Jesus.  We think about one thing which will help us recall each person - this is called a symbol.

The Jesse Tree symbols are decorations for Christmas trees.  When they are hung on the tree, it is transformed into the “Family Tree” of Christ since each decoration is a symbol either of an ancestor of Christ or of a prophecy foretelling His coming.

All children are invited to help decorate the Jesse Tree.  Sign-up for symbols will be at the doors of the church next weekend.  Pick up your symbols on Dec. 9-10.  The Jesse Tree will be decorated at the 10:00 Mass on Sunday, December 17.

PARISH OFFICE E-MAIL ADDRESS CHANGE

Over the next few weeks the Parish Office/Rectory will be changing our email addresses from Minnesota Road Runner to Comcast.net.  During this changeover should there be problems sending or receiving e-mails, please be patient.
