Text Box: BULLETIN CONNECTION

This is one of those bothersome parables in the Gospels. It seems that Jesus praises a steward who is cheating his master. And then Jesus goes on to tell his disciples, “Make friends for yourselves with dishonest wealth.” What’s that all about? Is it really OK to take embezzled money to help the church?

While the parable may at first sound like something out of the television show The Sopranos, Jesus is indicating that his followers do live in the world. We are not pure spirits. We still need food, and clothing, and shelter.

The ways that we use the goods of this earth reveal what kind of disciple of Christ we are. The key actor in the parable was a steward. That is who we are as well - stewards of the creation that God has blessed us with. Are we squandering the Master’s property? Are we prepared to give a full account of our stewardship? Is there at least one small thing that can be done this week to improve the balance sheet?

EUCHARISTIC ADORATION

THE HOLY EUCHARIST is the continuation of Christ’s Incarnation on earth, where the same JESUS born two thousand years ago in Bethlehem is as truly present with us now as HE was then.  Jesus came quietly and humbly.  Now our quiet and humble JESUS is hidden in the Blessed Sacrament.  Our faith prompts us to visit and adore HIM.  Your sacrifice of time spent in Eucharistic Adoration is of more value than all the gifts in the world
