FATHER GLEN’S THOUGHTS….. The Lord makes a strongly worded appeal to his listeners to value nothing as much as following him. He uses the language of hating everything else but being his disciple in the style of the people of his time to get the attention of his listeners. He is challenging everyone who would follow him to count nothing as important as following him and taking our discipleship seriously in our daily living. This weekend we honor human work on Labor Day. It is important to do the best work that we can on our job in this world which supports our living here on earth. In God’s eyes it is just as important to work equally hard at our work as a disciple of Jesus. On this Labor Day may we value all of our work, paid work at our job on earth, and our spiritual work as a disciple of Jesus, very highly, and give all of our work our best effort. May those who are looking for work during this time of economic recession find strength in their faith to carry on and find their future anew. This Wednesday, Sept. 8th is the Feast of the Birthday of the Blessed Mother. If you can make it to mass in Mary’s honor on Wednesday, that would be a beautiful way to celebrate her birthday and show her your love. There will be a special Mass in honor of Mary at Holy Cross on Wednesday at 7:00 PM. Father Glen Jenson, Pastor |
PARISH OFFICE CLOSED - The Holy Cross parish office will be closed on Monday, Sept. 6th in observance of Labor Day. The office will reopen on Tuesday, Sept. 7th at 8:00 AM. |
