Welcome to the Church of the Holy Cross

BULLETIN CONNECTION

"The Son of Man will come with his angels in his Father's glory." (Mt. 16:27) These last words of Sunday's Gospel will show up again at the end of the Church year when we read the story of the Last Judgment on the feast of Christ the King. Matthew loves this image of the Son of Man surrounded by angels. It shows up several times in his Gospel, especially in the final chapters before Jesus' passion and death.

All of this "glory" imagery may put us off a bit, as though Jesus is not really one of us. Even at the beginning of his Gospel, Matthew heralds Jesus' birth in a royal manner. When is the last time a newborn infant in your parish received coffers of gold, frankincense and myrrh?

In all of this, Matthew is intent on showing that Jesus is the successor of King David, someone in whom his followers can trust, someone who will lead even when crosses seem too hard to bear. Following this King leads us to eternal joy.

PLEASE CONTINUE TO SAVE ALUMINUM CANS. Bags of aluminum cans (pop or beer only) can be put in the containers by the doors of the church or the garages behind the rectory. Monies received from the aluminum goes towards the Continuing Our Tradition Campaign.
PHASE II of the Evangelization Initiative will be starting soon. For the continued success of this program, we need more people to serve on the Core Team including a chair and vice-chair. If you can help or for information, please call the parish office - 612-789-7238.
WE ARE LOOKING FOR a couple of "extra special" people to minister to our little ones on Sunday during the 10:00 a.m. Mass from September until May. The Nursery is for infants and Sunday School is for children ages 2 1/2 through 6. Prayerfully consider if you are the one to bring the stories of Jesus to parish children while their parents are at Mass. Contact Father David at 612-789-7238.
