COFFEE AND DONUT SUNDAY - On the second Sunday of every month from September to April, after all morning Masses in Kolbe Center, we host Coffee and Donut Sunday.  This is an opportunity to come and visit with fellow parishioners.  We are in need of people to help host the Coffee and Donut Sunday; we provide all the supplies - you serve for the 8:00 & 10:00 Masses.  If you, your family or group are interested or have questions, please call the Parish Office weekdays at 612-789-7238.  First Coffee and Donut Sunday is Sept. 9th.

BAKE SALE - The Polish Rosary Society is planning a Bake Sale for Saturday, September 8th after the 4:30 PM Mass and Sunday, September 9th after the morning Masses.  Donations will be greatly appreciated.

MASS OF THANKSGIVING AND REMEMBRANCE - On September 8, 2007 at 10:00 AM at the St. Paul Cathedral Archbishop Flynn will again celebrate the annual Mass of Thanksgiving and Remembrance for Law Enforcement, Fire and Emergency Personnel.  In light of recent events let us continue to remember in prayer all those victims, families and responders of the 1-35W bridge collapse, the floods and the victims and heroes of the 9-11 tragedy that changed our nation.  We invite people of all faiths to join us for Mass as we come together to pray, recall, remember and thank all those who place their lives in harm’s way each day for our safety.

“HAPPENINGS” BOOKS - Holy Cross Parish is selling “Happenings” books for $30.00 each.  The book contains a large variety of coupons for discounts on food, gas, car washes, entertainment, travel, etc.  Proceeds from the sale will be go the “Church Painting Fund.”  Books can be purchased at the Parish Office or by calling Dennis at 612-788-4209. 

Text Box: THE IRA GIFT OPPORTUNITY

Under the Pension Protection Act of 2006, anyone age 70.5 or older who has an Individual Retirement Account may make a direct transfer of these funds to The Church of the Holy Cross.  The transfer may be any amount up to $100,000 in one year.  The legislation provides that this opportunity will be available only until the end of the calendar year, December 31, 2007.  This tax incentive regarding IRA contributions provides a marvelous gift opportunity for senior parishioners owning IRA’s.  Contact your tax advisor or IRA custodian for more information.

FAITH FORMATION & CONFIRMATION classes begin in a few weeks.  Faith Formation classes are for public school students in grades 1-7, and for all children who will be in grade 2 in preparation for First Communion.  Confirmation classes are for students in the 8th or 9th grade or older (public or Catholic high school).  Confirmation is a one-year program.  Register now so that books can be ordered and preparations complete.  To register or for more information, please call Sister Donna (evenings) at 612-789-7238.

DEVOTIONS - First Saturday Devotions will be held here at Holy Cross on Saturday, September 1st at 7:45 AM with praying of the first three decades of the Rosary and Mass at 8:00 AM.  After Mass our devotions will continue with praying of the final two decades of the Rosary, prayer and meditation.  All are welcome.

ALL NIGHT VIGIL - The World Apostolate of Fatima, Archdiocese of St. Paul/Minneapolis, is sponsoring an All Night Vigil of reparation and prayer at Epiphany Catholic Church, 1900-111th Avenue N.W. in Coon Rapids.  The vigil will begin on Friday, September 7, at 8:00 PM with the Rosary, the Mass at 9:00 PM, and conclude with the Mass at 4:00 AM on Saturday, September 8.  Everyone is invited to attend part or all of this devotion.  Contact: Pat at 763-755-1010.
