Welcome to Church of the Holy Cross

At first glance today's Gospel may seem to have two parts to it: Peter's confession of faith in Jesus and Jesus' commission to Peter as "rock" of the Church. But what is revealed in this scene from St. Matthew's Gospel with Peter is really what happens in the life of each Christian.

Peter professes his faith; Jesus gives him a job. For each and everyone of us it is the same. We profess our faith in Jesus as the Christ, the Son of the living God, and then we get a commission.

Living the Christian life is not just standing up and saying, "I believe in Jesus." Living the Christian life is also being empowered by the Holy Spirit to share God's love through our actions of care for others; it is using the Spirit's gifts to tell others about Christ; it is acting as a reconciler, bringing people closer together as one family

Goal - $1,500,000.00
Total paid to date (pledge payments and additional gifts) $1,383,801.70
Pledge still outstanding $ 116,198.30

In June Father David sent letters to all with outstanding campaign pledges. Those with inactive pledges were asked to contact the parish office indicating their intentions. For those who have not contacted either Father David or Janice Frakie, soon the Finance Committee will be doing follow-up calling.

We appreciate the kindness of all who continue to give gifts and make pledge payments. Thank you!
PHASE II of the Evangelization Initiative will be starting soon. For the continued success of this program, we need more people to serve on the Core Team including a chair and vice-chair. If you can help or for information, please call the parish office - 612-789-7238.
