CHURCH FESTIVAL - The Church of St. Cyril and Methodius, 1315 Second Street N.E. is having their Church Festival TODAY Sunday, August 19.  Polka Mass 10:30 AM.  Music by Twin City Soundz.  Festival 11:30 AM to 5:00 PM.  Food includes: Polish sausage, hot dogs, cabbage rolls and Hispanic Food.  Games: cake walk, country store, big wheel and kid games.  Entertainment: Don Pafko and Lipa Slovak Folk Dancers.  Raffle $1,400.00 in Prize Money.  Drawing at 4:30 PM.

PRO-LIFE COMEDIAN BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND - Mike Williams, a pro-life author and comedian, returns as the featured speaker and entertainer at the Total LifeCare Centers’ 10th Annual Banquet and Silent Auction at the Sheraton Bloomington Hotel on Saturday, September 29.  Social begins at 5:30 PM.  Tickets are $50.00.  Proceeds raised will help the 24 LifeCare pregnancy centers by offering compassionate pro-life support to moms, babies and families.  For tickets call 612-623-3211.

CHOIR PILGRIMAGE with Archbishop Flynn.  Singers and non-singer are welcome to travel with the Archdiocesan Pilgrimage Choir and Archbishop Flynn for a pilgrimage to Ireland, March 27 - April 5, 2008.  For more information, contact the Worship Center of the Archdiocese at 651-290-1625.

POLISH SPEAKING FOOT DOCTOR - Dr. Mark Zelent is now on staff at the North Memorial Health Care Clinics.  Dr. Zelent specializes in diseases and disorders of the foot and ankle, and treatment of the “diabetic foot.”  Phone number at the Northeast Clinic is 612-379-1119.

EAST SIDE OLD TIMERS “53rd” STAG REUNION - The East Side Old Timers would like to invite all fellows who at one time or another engaged or sponsored sports on the east side or southeast communities to the 53rd Reunion.  All players, coaches and sponsors are invited to celebrate this anniversary with the “Old Timers.”  Event will be Thursday, September 20, 2007, 7:00 PM at Holy Cross Kolbe Center, 17th Avenue & 4th Street N.E.  Tickets can be purchased at the Holy Cross parish office for $5.00 or at the door the evening of the event for $6.00

“HAPPENINGS” BOOKS - Holy Cross Parish is selling “Happenings” books for $30.00 each.  The book contains a large variety of coupons for discounts on food, gas, car washes, entertainment, travel, etc.  Proceeds from the sale will be go the “Church Painting Fund.”  Books can be purchased at the Parish Office or by calling Dennis at 612-788-4209. 

 

HOLY CROSS FESTIVAL NEWS

 

Our Fall Festival is September 15 & 16, 2007. 

We need your help. 

To volunteer please call 612-789-7238.

 

 Arts & Crafts - Jewelry, cross-stitching, ceramics, knit,

             crochet, ornaments, etc.  Be creative!  Donations

             can be brought to the Rectory weekdays.

 

 Basket Raffle - Design a theme basket and fill it with

             items relating to your theme - Crayons, Cookies,

             Crafts, Cars, etc.

 

 Big Wheel - Prizes are needed.  Would your employer or

             local retailer donation to our Festival?  Can you

             donate a prize?

 

 Bingo - Noon to 4:00 PM on Sunday, Sept. 16 in Kolbe              Hall. Fun games, cash prizes.  Help is needed.

 

 Cake Walk/Country Store - Choose your favorite cake

             recipe and bake a cake for the Country Store.

             Cake boxes available in Church Sept. 8 & 9.

 

 Dining Room - The most help is needed in the Dining

             Room.  Contact Cindy at 763-754-2230.

 

 Kitchen Help - Help needed in the kitchen on Saturday              and Sunday to prepare the Chicken Dinner.

 

 Mystery Gifts/Parcel Post - We all enjoy a surprise. We

             need donations of useable gifts for people of all

             ages.  The gifts will be beautifully wrapped and

             will remain a “Mystery” until opened.  Mark your

             donation “Mystery Gift.”

 

 Raffle Tickets - Have you sold (or bought) your raffle

             tickets yet?  The raffle is an important part of

             the Festival.  Please return your ticket stubs and

             money as soon as possible.
