THANK YOU “RUMMAGE SALE” WORKERS - Thank you to all who worked the recent Holy Cross “Rummage Sale.”  A dedicated group of volunteers worked for weeks to sort, price and display the donated items.  Then they worked at the sale and later packed and cleaned up.  Almost $2,000 was made from your donation of items and the generous donation of time by the workers.  It is interesting to see what people donate and what people purchase.  There is a true recycling effort for many, many items.  Thank you to all who donated, worked and purchased!

THANK YOU ALSO to all who bring aluminum cans for recycling.  When the Tuesday Toilers took in the many barrels of cans recently, they were able to get 64¢/lb plus additional money for some scrap metal.  The parish received $1,176.06.  That’s a lot of empty cans!  Please continue to bring your cans to church.  They can be placed in the containers by the doors.  Thank you, the Tuesday Toilers and Advance Companies for use of their truck.

ARCHDIOCESAN PLANNING

PROCESS UPDATE

The comments, concerns and other input of thousands of people were considered in the strategic planning decisions which will be announced in October of this year.  Pastors, parish and Catholic school leaders and staff, parishioners and Catholic school families shared their input at meetings and through a voicemail hotline, an online comment form, and letters.  The major themes of input included:

Outreach: the need to reach out to young people, disaffected Catholics, inactive Catholics, new immigrants, and the poor.

Transparency: a need for more openness about parish and Archdiocesan finances and improved communication at all levels.

Responsible stewardship: the need to make better use of the gifts we are given so all are served well and within our means.

Collaboration: fostering cooperation, communication and a shared commitment between parishes is important.

Healthy and unhealthy competition: parishes and schools often sense we are competing with one another, and it’s not always a good thing.
