FATHER GLEN’S

THOUGHTS…..

Jesus rewards the Canaanite woman’s faith with the healing of her daughter in our Gospel this Sunday.  When your faith is great the Lord can do many things in your life because faith opens the gates of the heart, mind, and soul to his gracious love.  With school approaching and the increasing activity that comes in the fall in many ways, now is a good time to open your heart to the Lord and ask him to come into your heart in a new and deeper way that the days ahead might be different than ever before.

I am away working at a Cursillo Retreat this weekend with dozens of men who are already in the Cursillo Movement on behalf of those men who are taking the retreat this weekend.  They are seeking to open to the Lord in a new and deeper way.  There are many ways to encounter the Lord more deeply.  Ask him in prayer how you might meet him in a new and more powerful way.

You may have noticed some news coverage of a demonstration at the Cathedral last Saturday protesting the restructuring plan of the Archdiocese as it concerns our parishes in Northeast, especially Holy Cross.  While the appeal to Rome is ongoing the Archbishop is not to make any decisions regarding the plan as it is under review in Rome due to appeals.  As we know the Archbishop does not intend that Holy Cross should close or its Polish Ministries to cease as he has stated in letters in response to appeals last fall.  In addition a new Polish priest has just arrived to serve at Holy Cross and in our tri-parish cluster as part of the usual and ongoing support for the Polish Ministry by the Archbishop who approved his transfer here.  People have a right to express their concerns about changes that affect them and so I hope that the demonstration last Saturday will not cause conflict to develop in our parish.  Those who still have great concerns about the proposed changes in Northeast I would urge to demonstrate great faith and patience, and wait for the results of the review in Rome.
