Welcome to Church of the Holy Cross

BULLETIN CONNECTION

The words of Isaiah's prophecy (chapter 56) were hard ones for the people of Israel to hear. They had just come back from exile in the land of Babylon. They had gotten back again their Promised Land. The temple, which had been destroyed, was being rebuilt. They were being reconstituted as one people, one nation.

Then Isaiah comes along and says, "Oh by the way, God has a little different idea about how things are going to go from now on. God thought it would be a good idea that God's blessings and God's covenant not just be for the people of Israel. God thought that everybody, even foreigners, could get in on the promise."

You can see how the people of Israel might have had an adverse reaction to Isaiah that month! His prophecy wasn't exactly what they expected. But, then again, most prophecies aren't!

So who do you need to welcome as part of God's people? And what part of your "promised land" do you need to share?
