Text Box: MESSAGE FROM
FATHER JENSON

This Sunday’s reading from the Gospel of John gives the understanding that our Church has about what we are receiving in Holy Communion. Many churches understand what Jesus said at the Last Supper in a symbolic way. The Catholic Church believes that what Jesus meant at the Last Supper is made clear in this chapter of John’s Gospel. Jesus says, “I am the true bread that came down from heaven…the bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world.” Jesus is truly body, blood, soul and divinity present in the Holy Eucharist on our altars. This is why we genuflect and kneel at mass to demonstrate our respect for the living presence of God in our midst. May our Lady, the means by which Jesus became a true human being, help us always to be mindful of the closeness of Jesus when we are in a Catholic Church.

Mission Appeal: This weekend we welcome representatives from the Piarist Fathers to all three of our parishes for the annual summer mission appeal. Please be as generous as you can with the second collection for their mission efforts.

Father Glen Jenson, Pastor
