Text Box: MESSAGE FROM
FATHER JENSON

The Lord reminds us in our Gospel this weekend that much is expected of one to whom much is given in this life. We should therefore strive to keep our focus on the fact that while we live in this world we are waiting for the Lord’s return in glory. If we have this in mind, we will be found ready upon his return, whether at the end of all things or our own personal end. Life keeps plugging along whether or not we have a sense of purpose. But life acquires meaning when we keep Jesus Christ before our eyes in prayer and praise. Always be praying each day for those around you, and especially those who lack faith or have become ensnared in the details of living and cannot see the glory that awaits those who love HIM.

This weekend we will have our visiting missionaries for the summer mission appeal. Please be as generous with the second collection as you can.

My thanks to the many parishioners from our tri-parishes who showed up for St. Anthony’s Polka Days and helped to make it such a success. I am always amazed at the generous spirit of our tri-parish members who step forward at parish functions to help out in so many ways. There is a lot of work involved in making a parish festival come together and go off nicely. My thanks to those at St. Anthony’s who gave of themselves so freely to make last Sunday a hit! I saw similar dedication at St. Hedwig’s in June for their festival and will see it again next month at Holy Cross. It so reminds me that the Holy Spirit is a necessary element in a successful parish activity because so many different people must come together to make them happen, and work well together while they’re at it. If you have never worked at a parish festival or other major event, you are really missing something. Give it a whirl the next time something comes up in the parish and feel the Spirit!

Offertory Collection - August 1, 2010

$7,126.05

Thank you to all who continue to give

generously to the parish each week.

We are grateful to those who have recently

increased their weekly gift.  The expenses for

operating an aging campus continue to rise.

For example, a recent church roof repair

(yes, the 10 year warranty has just expired) was $720.00.

The cost for preparing the school boiler for a

required annual inspection was $1,051.00.

If possible, an occasional extra $5 or $10

will be greatly appreciated!
