Welcome to Church of the Holy Cross

BULLETIN CONNECTION

It is easy to imagine the disciples being tossed about in the boat in a raging storm. Given the limited understanding of the natural world in those days, it is easy to see why the disciples would be prepared to imagine a ghost coming toward them.

What is harder to fathom is that Jesus was walking across the water and that Peter thought he could do the same.

Matthew preserved this encounter in his Gospel to highlight the developing understanding of the disciples as to who Jesus was. He is "truly the Son of God" to whom homage is given.

Over the years, how has your understanding of who Jesus is deepened and grown?

                        FOR YOUR INFORMATION:
                                    Notes from Father David

The painting and decorating of the church and vestibule by Conrad Schmitt Studios, New Berlin, WI, is complete. Please stop and take a look. It's beautiful! The statues will be painted and placed back in their appropriate niches as soon as possible.
The painting in the school gym, stage, balcony, stairwells and ceiling with necessary repairs by Advance Companies are all complete.
The roof over the south side of the recreation center (area between the gym and school) is being worked on now by Berwald Roofing and should be finished soon. Interior repairs on the water-damaged classroom will be done by Advance Companies.
The sidewalks in front of the rectory, church and along 17th Avenue have been replaced this past week by the City of Minneapolis. Many areas were tripping hazards or deteriorated due to erosion. We will be assessed per foot for this work.
Other summer repair work includes asbestos removal in the school, replacing the lavatory sinks in the school, replacing a steam valve in the gym, and replacing furnace pump motors in the school boiler and rectory furnace.
The majority of these projects were made possible through the kindness of a parishioner who remembered Holy Cross in his Will, We are grateful for his thoughtfulness and generosity.

LADIES - AS A SAFETY PRECAUTION when coming to Communion, please take your purse with you so that it is not a temptation to someone else. Sorry to say, not everyone in Church comes to pray.
