Text Box: MESSAGE FROM
FATHER JENSON

Our Lord in the Gospel warns against the folly of focusing on our material wants to the detriment of acquiring spiritual wealth. If we are so concerned about our future here on earth that we leave little meaningful time for our spiritual life, we will impoverish ourselves in God’s eyes. Life here is of uncertain length. Many people worry about having everything that we want before we retire and for a comfortable lifestyle once retired, even if it means that we crowd God out of our lives in the mean time.

If life ends before we planned on it, such people will have nothing to live on hereafter, so to speak, and their hereafter will be one of suffering as a result. With God we can live on almost anything here and now, without him, we will not be truly satisfied with what we have here, and very unhappy hereafter. Don’t be penny wise and pound foolish. Store up wealth for the hereafter, as well as for the here and now, by loving God and all whom God loves, our neighbor.

Father Glen Jenson, Pastor

STRATEGIC PLANNING PROCESS - Archdiocesan strategic planning process decisions will be announced at weekend Masses on October 16th and 17th, 2010. These decisions are the result of a consultative process launched in early 2009. The strategic planning process decisions are guided by the mission of the Church and will follow the 7 principles the Archbishop identified in February 2009.

Those 7 principles are:

1. Full Sacramental ministry.

2. Competent pastoral leaders.

3. Special concern for the needs of the poor, marginalized, and immigrant.

4. Catholic school support and inclusion in the planning process.

5. Every parish will be involved in this discussion.

6. Every parish will be expected to evaluate their own resources and adjust accordingly.

7. Respect, patience and honesty in all discussions to build on strengths.
