FATHER GLEN’S

THOUGHTS…..

In our Gospel this Sunday the Lord feeds over five thousand people with five loaves and two fish.  The Lord goes above and beyond what the apostles thought was possible to do in such a situation.  We tend to underestimate the power of God by thinking of him in terms of what is humanly possible.  The closer we are to Jesus in prayers and virtuous living, the more we begin to realize what he is doing every day for us that we used to take for granted.

The Lord can do vastly much more than we imagine.  He does so according to his infinite wisdom and in ways that we do not see and for reasons that are not always the same as ours.  Touching the power of God in prayer and trying to be generous and merciful expands our horizons to understand God’s ways better.  Eucharistic Adoration is a powerful way to encounter the mystery of God up close.  Come to church early for mass to have time for quiet prayer in his presence.  Come to adoration during the week throughout the day.  Sitting just eight feet from God and gazing upon him is transforming.

Our summer intern Deacon Albert Wugaa has only two more weeks with us before returning to the seminary.  He will begin making his farewells soon.  My new Polish Associate will arrive this Tuesday from Michigan.  So much still happens this summer.  Enjoy these days of summer. Despite the heat and humidity, they still beat January.

St. Anthony’s festival is next Sunday, August 7th.  Come and join our sister parish as she celebrates faith and community, and have a good time while you do it.  There is nothing like one of our church festivals here in Northeast!
