Text Box: BULLETIN CONNECTION

What would you ask for if you were Solomon in today’s first reading? God offered him anything he wanted and he asked for an understanding heart that would be able to distinguish right from wrong. And what would you do if you were the person who found a treasure in a field or the merchant who found a pearl of great price? Would you sell everything you have just to get that one treasure? Of course, there’s a reason today’s first reading and Gospel passage are linked together in this liturgy.

The question of the day is: What do you value the most?
We know the “right” answer isn’t a material one. We know the real treasures are spiritual ones. But would you give up everything else to gain spiritual treasure? Would we ask for them first? Do we ask for them at all?

THANK YOU - The Dolina Polish Folk Dancers, the Chabry Teen Polish Folk Dancers and the children’s group Sloneczniki would like to thank the Polish Committee of Holy Cross for their donation to these three groups.  Your support is greatly appreciated.  Thank you and God Bless you for your generosity.

THE KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS - The Knights of Columbus Council 435 would like to thank the people of Holy Cross for the help and support during their annual Tootsie Roll Drive that was held April 19-20, 2008.  The donations amounted to $357.23 all of which went to Minnesota Special Olympics for their ongoing work with mentally and physically challenged individuals.  We are grateful for your support of this important act of charity.

WE NEED YOUR HELP NOW!!  Donations are needed.  Bring good, useable items that you no longer need for the Holy Cross Rummage Sale which will be August 6, 7 & 8.  The dates are quickly approaching and the need is great.  Please, no clothing, TV’s or furniture.  Bring donations to the garages behind the rectory weekdays 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.  Questions?  Call 612-789-7238 weekdays.

PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY - You are invited to join us - all skills are needed (sew, crochet, knit, fleece tie, sewing labels).  We meet on Tuesday, July 29 at 6:30 PM in the Parish Library.  If you would like to work at home, just stop by a meeting to see the shawls and get copies of prayers, patterns/ideas and size guidelines.  For more information, contact the Parish Office at 612-789-7238 or Mary at 612-379-4090.
