Text Box: MESSAGE FROM
FATHER JENSON

We see the story of the multiplication of the loaves and fishes in our Gospel this Sunday. This miraculous feeding of several thousands of people with five barley loaves and two fish is an indication of what the Lord is capable of doing for us, even when least expected. The Archdiocese is beginning a year-long planning process to evaluate its ministries, parishes, schools and all other institutions with an eye toward the viability of what we are presently doing. The Church seems to be entering a new era when it is time to seriously reach out to the large number of non-worshipping baptized, and the increasing number of unbaptized. I was startled to find out that only 34% of the baptized worship on Sunday. Clearly, business as usual is not working very well anymore. Pope John Paul II spoke of a new spring time in the Spirit in discussing the turn of the New Millennium. With the help of the power of the Lord things that seem to be impossible to change, surely can be. Let us dedicate ourselves to the aid of our Mother Mary in opening to the Holy Spirit to discover new ways to bring the faith into our world.

Please: Keep our new Vacation Bible School in your prayers this week! May this be one piece of a new and exciting future for the Church in Northeast!

Father Glen Jenson, Pastor

PETER’S PENCE  COLLECTION - Today we recall the apostolic journey of Pope Benedict XVI to the United States and his call to us to cast the light of Christ upon the world.  We can show our solidarity with the Holy Father and our suffering brothers and sisters abroad through our support of this week’s collection.  These funds allow him to provide emergency assistance to victims of war, disaster, oppression, and disease.  Please be generous in today’s Peter’s Pence Collection.
