TWIN CITIES POLISH FESTIVAL will be August 14 & 15, 2010 along the Mississippi River on Old Main Street across from Riverplace & St. Anthony Main.  Sat. 10 AM to 10 PM and Sunday 11 AM to 6 PM.  Experience “All Things Polish” and celebrate and explore the Polish heritage and culture that is a vibrant part of Minnesota.  Festival includes traditional Folk Dance & Music, Folk Art Demonstrations, Food Market & Beer Garden, Na Zdrowie! 5K Run, Chopin Celebration, etc.  Information:

Here are things that can be done now:

Pick up you Fall Festival Raffle Tickets at the University entrance to Church.
Think of where you would like to work.  We need and would like lots of volunteers.  The “Kiddie Games” area needs new chair couples.  It’s a great spot for families with children.  The Flea Market also needs a chair person.
Design a theme basket for the Arts and Crafts Booth. - Pick a theme - Get Well, Saturday Nite at the Movies, Tool Time, etc. and fill a basket with items relating to your theme.
Make items for the Fancy Booth - crochet, knit, carve, paint, holiday items, etc.

POLKA DAZE - St. Anthony of Padua Annual Polka Daze Festival, Sunday, August 1st on the parish grounds, 813 Second St. N.E.  It will begin with a Polka Mass at 11:30 AM and continue on the grounds until 5:00 PM.  The event includes cash drawings, food, door prizes and live Polka Music with the Dick Macko Orchestra as well as games for children and adults.  For information call 612-379-2324.

PRAYER SHAWL - Please join us!!  We need all skills (sew, crochet, knit, fleece tie or sewing labels).  We meet on Tuesday, July 27 at 6:30 PM in the Parish Library.  If you would like to work at home, stop by a meeting and see the shawls and get copies of prayers, patterns/ideas and size guidelines.  For more information call the Parish Office at 612-789-7238 or Mary at 612-379-4090.


WE NEED YOUR HELP TO “SAVE OUR SALE” - The Holy Cross “Rummage Sale” will be August 4, 5 & 6 - Wednesday through Friday.  We still need items for the sale that is less than two weeks away.  Please take time to look through your basement, cupboards, garage, etc.  Donations can be brought to the garages behind the rectory weekdays 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM or call 612-789-7238 weekdays to arrange a drop off time.  Please, no clothing, TV’s or furniture.




JESUS desires us to respond to HIM in a personal way.  Prayer is our response.  Adoration gives us total dependence on HIM.  We are grateful for HIS blessings.  Prayer meets our spiritual and daily needs.

A PLANNING MEETING FOR THE HOLY CROSS FALL FESTIVAL is scheduled for Thursday, August 6th at 6:30 PM in Kolbe Center.  The meeting is open to all chairpersons and parishioners.  We are always looking for good ideas and volunteers.  Needed: Chairpersons for the Flea Market and Kiddie Games.  Both areas are well established and have good volunteer support.

ALL NIGHT VIGIL - The World Apostolate of Fatima of the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis is sponsoring an All-Night Vigil of prayer and reparation at St. Charles Catholic Church, 409-3rd St. North, Bayport. The vigil begins on Friday, August 6, 7:30 PM with confessions at 8:00 PM with Rosary and Mass at 9:00 PM.  The vigil will conclude on Saturday, August 7, with Mass at 4:00 a.m.  Everyone is invited to attend all or some of this devotion.  651-439-4511.
