FATHER GLEN’S

THOUGHTS…..

The Gospel this weekend continues to have images of separation of the good from the evil at the last day as in last Sunday’s Gospel with the parable of the wheat and the weeds.  The angels in our Gospel this weekend will do the separating and casting into perdition, but they are also our guardians in this life to help us avoid becoming entrapped in worldly ways that transform us from wheat into weeds in God’s eyes.  Have you prayed to your guardian angel lately?  The angels know what is on the line for us in this life and the next.  Bring your guardian angel into your daily concerns, especially before you meet someone that you think will be difficult, it will help.  Holy Guardian Angels, pray for us!

It’s hard to believe how fast summer is flying by.  Just right now with the monster heat wave we have been enduring, that doesn’t seem all bad.  Our summer intern Deacon Albert will with us for just a bit less than a month more.  Deacon Albert has been learning many things in our three parishes so far this summer and he says that he really likes all the different ways of the parishes and the variety of it all.

I will get a chance to work a Cursillo Retreat in August which I look forward to.  I look forward to the chance to help with the spiritual direction of the men’s retreat in mid-August down in Hastings for the Cursillo movement.  Take the opportunity to try something different or extra for the faith this summer.  Bear fruit one hundred or sixty or thirty fold.

Fr. Waldemar Matusiak has received a transfer notice from his religious order, the Society of Christ, effective August 1st.  Fr. Matusiak has served at Holy Cross for five years primarily to serve the Polish language parishioners, as well as assisting at St. Hedwig’s and St. Anthony’s for varying lengths of time.  He has worked hard and his work has been recognized by his order which will be moving him to a parish in the much larger city of Houston, Texas.  We wish him well in his new assignment and many blessings in the Lord.

The Provincial of the Society of Christ has informed us that the new priest who will be assigned here will come on August 2nd.  His name is Father Jan Michalski and he is presently serving in Hamtramck, MI.
