Text Box: MESSAGE FROM
FATHER JENSON

In our Gospel this Sunday the Lord mentions sowing good seed but that weeds have grown up among the crop, the work of the enemy. It is so easy to let the business of our daily living cause us to let prayer fall off, or be forgotten. Even Sunday mass can become hit and miss for many when we become busy. I know that when I am busy I am tempted to leave prayer for a bit later when I will make time for it, but I’m too busy right now. Then I often find that I have much less time later than I thought I would have. This makes for a hurried conversation with the Lord, just getting it in. This is not how we like to spend time with our friends and loved ones, and it is not how the Lord wants us to spend time with him. It is hard to love someone when you are rushing around them.

I am looking forward to relaxing time for prayer on my vacation this coming week on the North Shore. My prayer for you all will be that you can find time each day to relax and enjoy some good time with the Lord Jesus. This is how you love someone, by making time for them.

I will be leaving for vacation after Sunday masses this weekend and returning next Tuesday. Now, just because father is away, don’t be acting up and carrying on since I’m not around to keep an eye on you all! May we all have a blessed week.

Next Saturday morning July 26, the 8:30 AM mass and holy hour at St. Anthony’s will be cancelled in my absence. All other masses will be as usual.

MISSION APPEAL– Next weekend, July 26 & 27, Holy Cross will have a mission appeal for the Diocese of Virac, Philippines.  Due to yearly typhoons it is one the most depressed dioceses in the country, where the average family income is around $500 and 85% of the families live below the “poverty line.”  There are many needs.  Please be generous in your response to the mission appeal.  Thank you.

Please remember Holy Cross Parish

in your Will.
