Text Box: MESSAGE FROM
FATHER JENSON

Martha and Mary in our Gospel present both sides of our lives in God’s eyes. Each was a dedicated friend of Jesus and treasured his visit to them. Martha wanted the visit to be perfect for him regarding hospitality, Mary wanted to treasure his words while he was with them. Neither was wrong in what they wanted, but Mary shows us the need to put time with Jesus first, service follows from that. Just as Jesus corrected Martha for being upset with Mary for not helping her as she normally would have, so too we need to put our personal spiritual life first and all other activity, even good works, second. Our good works are to flow from our devotion to Jesus first and foremost, then they have great value in the Lord’s eyes.

It was good to get away on vacation, and it is good to be home again. The North Shore was wonderfully refreshing and I enjoyed it very much. But, I am glad to be home again. I spent time reveling in God’s creation by the shores of Lake Superior, and it renewed my desire to be home amongst the people that I serve for the Lord. May everyone have time to refresh themselves and to rediscover what matters most in life during these bright summer days.

Father Glen Jenson, Pastor

DURING THE SUMMER many people are going to the cabin or traveling on weekends.  Please remember that Holy Cross Parish also needs your help during the summer.  A “mail back envelope” is included in your packet for your convenience.  Also, you can find the bulletin online, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year at www.SeekAndFind.com.  Just enter the church’s zip code (55413).  You may also sign up to receive email notifications when the new bulletin is available on line.  Thank you!
