Text Box: MESSAGE FROM
FATHER JENSON

As we hear the Lord speak of bearing fruit in faith this Sunday, I am thinking of the sisters that I am giving a retreat to this week, the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, who work at Sharing and Caring Hands for Mary Joe Copeland. Seeing their community life as I spend time at their convent, at Our Lady of Victory Church in North Minneapolis, several hours a day giving retreat talks, and taking part in their prayers in chapel is inspiring. Eating their Nigerian food and noticing how it differs from our own has been a fun experience at the same time. But to see these women striving to gain more understanding of their faith and how to live it out is inspiring.

Those who have come to the 8:30 AM Latin Mass at St. Anthony’s on Saturday mornings will have seen the sisters when they come for First Saturday devotions and mass. We can always strive to grow more in our faith and live it out more fully. Watching these sisters strive to achieve more in their faith lives when they already seem so holy to me, urges me on to seek more with God in my own faith life. Consider using some of these quieter summer days to discover something new in your faith and how to live it more joyfully for the Lord. That is where the fun is in our faith, when it’s growing.

On another note, the countdown begins for me for my summer vacation to the North Shore, seven more days to go until the 20th! I can’t wait.

Father Glen Jenson
