FALL FESTIVAL

Here are some things that can be done now:

Design a theme basket for the Arts and Crafts Booth. - Pick a theme - Scrapbooking, Sports, Back to School etc. and fill a basket with items relating to your theme.
Make items for the Fancy Booth - crochet, knit, carve, paint, holiday items, etc.
Start collecting (searching) for donations of “mystery gifts” for people of all ages for the Parcel Post Booth.  Useable items for this booth are needed.
Think of where you would like to work.  We need and would like lots of volunteers.

THE HOLY CROSS “RUMMAGE SALE” will be August 4, 5 & 6 - Wednesday through Friday.  More donations are needed now.  The ladies are busy getting the items priced and set out.  Donations can be brought to the garages behind the rectory weekdays 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.  No clothing, TV’s or furniture. THE LIGHT WEIGH - The Light Weigh a bible study DVD series and weight-loss support group in the N.E. Catholic Community.  Come get healthy physically and spiritually this summer by following the Son with the Light Weigh!  Featured on Fox News and CNN, the Light Weigh will help you grow in faith while losing weight, no weigh-ins.  Orientation meeting will be held on Monday, July 12th at 6:00 PM, in the Holy Cross Parish Library.  Enter through the blue doors on the 4th Street side of the school building.  Call 763-221-8716 for more information.

MYSTERY GIFTS - The Polish Rosary Society has started collecting items for the Mystery Gift Booth at our Fall Festival.  They are looking for good useable items for all ages.  Do you have good items around your house that you can donate.  Bring these items to the Parish Office weekdays during office hours 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM or leave them in the sacristy marked “Mystery Booth.”

FESTIVAL SILENT AUCTION ITEMS - We need your help!!  If you think of or come across an item that would be good for the Silent Auction at our Fall Festival, please remember your church.  Start collecting items now.  If you have questions, please call the Parish Office weekdays at 612-789-7238.

OLAN MILLS - SMILE!!  Mark you calendars now so you don’t miss the Holy Cross Parish Pictorial Directory.  Holy Cross Parish will work with Olan Mills Studios on the directory.  Put names with faces - connect with people - be part of history as we celebrate the 125th Anniversary of Holy Cross next year.  Photo dates at Holy Cross will be October 4 thru 9 and October 11 & 12, 2010.

COME AND CELEBRATE Sister Benita Kordiak’s 60th Anniversary as a Sister of St. Francis.  Join the Holy Cross Parish community with Mass at 10:00 AM on Sunday, August 22nd and reception to follow in Kolbe Hall.  Receptions for Sister Benita will also be held after the 4:30 PM Mass on Sat., August 21 and the 8:00 and 11:30 Masses on Sunday the 22nd. Plan to join us for the celebration!

THRIFT STORE - East Side Thrift Store, Northeast’s own charity thrift store, is now able to pick up furniture on Wednesdays! Please call ahead to schedule. Located at 1928 Central Ave NE. 612-789-0600. Donations of gently used items are gratefully appreciated.  Volunteers help is also needed.
