AT HOLY CROSS

Notes from Father David

1. The retaining wall in the front of the school has been removed and the area landscaped. We thank Belair Excavating and the Tuesday Toilers for their work on this project.
2. It has been over 20 years since the Gym/Auditorium was painted. Advance Companies will be repairing all damaged walls; the ceiling will be repaired and painted. The gym walls/stage will be painted as well as vestibules and bathrooms.
3. Advance Companies will repair and paint the walls of the choir loft stairwell.
The vestibule of church was in great need of painting and additional lighting. Brite Lite Electric has installed more indirect lighting. The Conrad Schmitt Studios will paint and redecorate the vestibule beginning July 19. While this is happening we will discuss the repainting of the Church Sanctuary which has deteriorated due to age as well as water damage near the windows.
Berwald Roofing will replace the roof over the center section of the school which has been leaking for years. This is the flat roof above the kitchen across from the gym and school science rooms. Once they have finished, Advance Companies will repair the ceiling and floor in the classroom and the walls will be painted.
6. The Tuesday Toilers are replacing all bathroom sinks and connecting pipes in the school.

While some of the cost of the above is being covered by insurance, the majority of these long overdue projects are made possible by two parishioners who recently remembered Holy Cross in their Wills. We are grateful for their loyal generosity to Holy Cross and as a parish we continue to use such donations wisely for the upkeep of our many buildings.

                         TO THINK FALL FESTIVAL

September 17 & 18

Here are some ideas of what can be done now:

Bring items for the Flea Market to the garages behind the Rectory Monday thru Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
Make items for the Fancy Booth - crochet, knit, carve, paint, holiday ornaments, etc.
Start collecting (searching) for donations of "mystery gifts" for people of all ages for the Parcel Post Booth. Useable items for this booth are needed. Mark the bag "Parcel Post" and bring them to the Rectory.
Think of where you would like to volunteer your time to work. We always need Lots of volunteers.
Design a theme basket for the Arts and Crafts Booth. Pick a theme - Baby, Barbie, Baking, etc. - and fill a basket with items relating to your theme.
