Text Box: MESSAGE FROM FATHER JENSON In our Gospel this Sunday the Lord sends out disciples to go out and spread the good news of the Gospel. Jesus says that the harvest is great but the laborers are few. We need to pray for vocations to the priesthood as Jesus says to “ask the master of the harvest to send out laborers for his harvest.” The year of the priest has concluded on the feast of the Sacred Heart in early June. Now, we seek to obtain the priests that we need from the Lord by asking for them unrelentingly. Priests come from our families, not out of the blue. If we commit ourselves to regular prayer as a family in our homes, as well as in church, it is beyond doubt that there will be more vocations to the priesthood. Let us make good use of the wonderful days of summer to pray in thanksgiving for the beauty and refreshment of these summer days, as well as for the Lord’s blessing on our families to keep them safe and ever growing in love and faith. Here is a simple formula for more love in our homes and more vocations to the priesthood. This weekend is also Independence Day for our country. As we worship God this Sunday, and also celebrate our country’s birth as a free nation under God, may we recommit ourselves to living the values that our country stands for, freedom and justice for all. God bless America! For those traveling, as I will be on Monday as I leave for the North Shore for a week, may God bless us all with safe travels and refreshment in spirit.
