RURAL LIFE SUNDAY CELEBRATION JUNE 25  begins at 1:30 p.m. and includes Eucharistic Liturgy of the Sunday with Bishop Pates presiding, a creation blessing, and essay and poster contest awards.  This year’s event is sponsored by the parish of St. Ignatius in Annandale and is being held at the Dave and Mary Spike farm.  Food and refreshments will be served (free-will offering accepted).  All are welcome!  For directions go online to www.MapQuest.com and input the Spike’s address (9399-10th St. N.W., Annandale, 55302) or call the Rural Life Office at 507-364-7323.

TENTH ANNUAL CORPUS CHRISTI PROCESSION (Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ) TODAY Sunday, June 18 (Father’s Day) 2:00 - 3:30 p.m.  The procession will begin at Assumption Church, 51 West 7th Street and go to the Cathedral of St. Paul.  Join Catholics from throughout the Archdiocese in this joyful witness to Eucharistic faith and love.  There will be an Ice Cream Social and buses return at 3:30 p.m.  Sponsored by the Millennium Ministries in cooperation with the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis Office for Family, Laity, Youth and Young Adults.  For more information call Greg at 651-489-0116.

THE LITTLE SISTERS OF THE POOR Summer Festival Saturday, June 24 and Sunday, June 25, 2006 from 12:00 noon to 6:00 p.m.  Spaghetti Dinner served all day: $8.00 for adults, $6.00 for children.  Other activities include: Craft sale, bake sale, silent auction, garage sale, games of chance, kid’s games, snack bar.  Little Sisters of the Poor is located at 330 Exchange Street South, St. Paul.   651-227-0336.

 

CATHOLIC CHARITIES CONNNECTIONS

 

Are you ministering to elders or involved in caring for an elderly family member?  If so, Catholic Charities Aging Services invites you to participate in our educational opportunity:

 

· Dimensions of Aging - Elders have stories to share - do you have time to listen?  Come & learn the skills necessary to serve elders in your community.  Training is offered on Saturday, July 15th 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Ridgedale Public Library.  Register by calling Heather at 651-215-2237.

· Did you know that people who participate in volunteer activities experience less health related issues?  Set aside some time to volunteer and see how good it makes you feel!  Catholic Charities is looking for volunteers.

Here are some ideas of what can be done now:

Bring items for the Flea Market to the garages behind the Rectory Monday thru Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
Make items for the Fancy Booth - crochet, knit, carve, paint, holiday ornaments, etc.
Start collecting (searching) for donations of “mystery gifts” for people of all ages for the Parcel Post Booth.  Useable items for this booth are needed.
Think of where you want to volunteer your time to work.  We need and would like lots of volunteers.
Design a theme basket for the Arts and Crafts Booth.  Pick a theme - Baking, Sewing, Sports, etc. - and fill a basket with items relating to your theme.
