Text Box: POPE JOHN PAUL II
CATHOLIC SCHOOL NEWS

Are you making a decision regarding your child’s education for 2009-2010? If so, please reflect on this statement by the Catholic Bishops from their letter, Renewing Our Commitment to Catholic Elementary and Secondary School in the Third Millennium. In it the bishops state that “Catholic schools afford the fullest and best opportunity to realize the fourfold purpose of Christian education, namely to provide an atmosphere in which the Gospel message is proclaimed, community of God is experienced, service to our brothers and sisters is the norm, and thanksgiving and worship to our God is cultivated.”

Register to attend Pope John Paul II Catholic School, where academics, values, and faith development exist at the heart of each child’s education. For information, contact the school at 612-789-8851.

HOME FOR SENIORS 55 AND OLDER - The Church of St. Maron will open its new Peter Nasseff Home for Seniors 55 and older starting this coming July.  A very good offer is being presented by St. Maron’s to any member of the parishes in Northeast Minneapolis who is interested to move in.  The building consists of twenty-one apartments, underground heated garage, community room, library and exercise room.  For more information call Jim at 612-379-8989.

GLOBAL SOLIDARITY SUNDAY COMING - Next Sunday has been designated as Global Solidarity Sunday in the Archdiocese.  The fact that it takes place on Corpus Christi Sunday, the feast of the Body and Blood of Christ, highlights the call for the universal Church to be the Body of Christ acting in the world today.  The collection will go towards the budding but vibrant Catholic churches in Africa, Latin America, Central and Eastern Europe, and to Catholic Relief Services.  Please be as generous as you are able.  There is an envelope for this collection in our packet.
