FATHER GLEN’S THOUGHTS….. This Sunday is Good Shepherd Sunday. The Lord Jesus is our true shepherd who will never lead us astray from the path of genuine happiness in this life and eternal happiness hereafter. Keeping our eyes fixed on him as the true light leading us to all goodness is how we set our course for eternal happiness in heaven. Regular prayer and worship is the way to follow him so that we can never become lost in life. Eucharistic Adoration is a very great help to keeping our eyes fixed on him. Holy Cross has a chapel of adoration as do many other churches around the Archdiocese. Spend some time with Jesus our Good Shepherd in his intimate presence and see how it fixes your eyes on him throughout your day and all the week. This summer we will be having a deacon intern from the seminary. Our teaching parish seminarian Ben Little will be going to another parish for a summer experience and we will be getting a different deacon from the seminary for the summer. His name is Albert Wugaa and he is from Ghana studying at our seminary to prepare for priesthood back in his home diocese in Africa. I will be meeting him at the seminary and will have more to say after I have met him. I look forward to meeting him and to having him with us for the summer. A young newly ordained deacon around the parishes will bring us much energy and enthusiasm this summer. Ben Little will be with us at one mass at each parish this weekend for his first time as a newly ordained deacon. Congratulations Deacon Ben on your own ordination to the deaconate last Saturday. He will make a fine priest when he is ordained next spring to the priesthood for this Archdiocese. Next Sunday, May 22nd there will be the annual blessing of cars and recreational vehicles at Holy Cross in preparation for the summer travel season. After all masses next weekend you can bring your vehicle and drive by the corner of 17th and 4th streets behind Holy Cross and get your vehicle blessed for safety for the coming summer travel season.
