Welcome to Church of the Holy Cross

BULLETIN CONNECTION

We celebrate a joyful feast today: the Ascension of the Lord. It is a feast of hope.

One ancient, indeed biblical, way to describe the Church, the baptized People of God, is to call us the Body of Christ. St. Paul talks about those who are baptized as being members of Christ's body. Christ is the head of his body, the Church.

One of the prayers that is prayed on the Ascension includes the words, "Where he has gone, we hope to follow." That really is what today's feast is about. In baptism we are joined to Christ. We die to sin and rise to new life. He ascends to heaven, and we hope to follow him. We have hope that one day we will be with our Head because we have been faithful members of his body.
