Text Box: Dear Parishioners,

This past week the Provincial from the Society of Christ called to inform me that Father Andrew Salapata will be transferred to a new parish toward the end of July. This fulfills Father Andrew’s three year commitment which the Society promised. Father Andrew will become Pastor of Saint Albert Church in San Jose, California. Father Andrew’s last weekend at Holy Cross will be July 22/23. A farewell will be held for him on Sunday, July 23. We wish Father Andrew many blessings on his new assignment and thank him for his three years of service to our parish. When I know for certain who will be the new priest I will inform you in the bulletin.

I want to thank all those who have given to the Church Painting Fund. I have received so many positive remarks on how beautiful the painting looks and the desire to continue. To date 29% of parishioners have contributed so far. I want to urge all parishioners to make use of the special green envelope in your packet (and at all doors of the church). As soon as the north side is paid for we can proceed to the south side aisle this fall. Please do what you can so we can move on and continue the redecoration of our beautiful church.

During the week of May 8th some necessary maintenance will be done on our pipe organ. This means for the weekend of May 14 not all of the organ will be working. Please understand our organists will do the best they can for that weekend with only a third of the organ functioning.

After consultation and review of materials, I have decided that Holy Cross parish will make use of the Diocese of Harrisburg program “Formation in Christian Chastity” to fulfill the Safe Environment Training requirement. Though staff and volunteer adults will complete the Virtus program, all children will study the Harrisburg program. Many parents have expressed their desire for the alternative program and I want to support them. The Harrisburg program will also be used in the Pope John Paul II School and this will allow us to work together.

		Sincerely in Christ

		Fr. David Ostrowski, Pastor
