REGISTRATION - This weekend, May 5 & 6 after Masses in the sacristy, we will have registration for the 2007-2008 Faith Formation classes, First Communion preparation and Confirmation classes.  It only takes a few minutes.

 

This registration includes:

 

¨ All children who will attend public school and be in grades 1-7 next year.

¨ Children who will be in grade 2 in preparation for First Holy Communion whether they attend public school or Pope John Paul II Catholic School.

¨ Students who will be in grades 8 & 9 (next year) or older for Confirmation preparation.  This includes those who attend public school and those who attend a Catholic school.

RUMMAGE SALE at St. John’s Church, 2201 Third St. N.E. on Thurs., May 10  & Friday, May 11 from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM and Saturday, May 12 from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.  “Bag Day” will be Saturday, May 12 (fill a bag for $3.00).  Clothing, linens, electric appliances, antiques, jewelry, crafts, furniture, dishes, toys and more!!  Hot dogs, perohi, cake, pop and coffee available.

HELP NEEDED - The Silver Angel Thrift Store, a program of East Side Neighborhoods Services, is in need of pots and pans, dishes and towels to provide to our neighbors in need.  Donations can be brought to 1900 Central Ave. N.E., at the donation door accessed from the parking lot behind the building.  Questions?  Please call 612-789-0600.  Thank you!

REMEMBER IN YOUR PRAYERS - In your charity please remember Sister Mary Arcadia Kondziolka who passed away on April 19, 2007 at Rosary Care Center in Sylvania, Ohio.  Sister Arcadia entered the Franciscan Community from Holy Cross Parish 76 years ago.  May Sister Arcadia rest in peace.

On June 1-3 our Archdiocese will celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the present Cathedral in St. Paul.  Below you will find a schedule of events.

Friday, June 1, 2007
 Noon		Wreath Laying at site of first Cathedral.
 Afternoon	Guided Tours of the Cathedral.
 5:00 PM	Cathedral Cornerstone Dinner.
 8:00 PM	Choral Festival at Cathedral followed 			by Ice Cream Reception & Fireworks.

Saturday, June 2, 2007
 11:00 AM	Cathedral Cornerstone Parade from the 			Capitol to the Cathedral.
 Afternoon	Guided Tours of the Cathedral.
 Noon - 6:30 	Festival and Entertainment on the 			North lawn of the Cathedral.
 1:00 PM	Ring Bells for Peace - People are 			encouraged to bring bells from home.
 7:00 PM	Solemn Mass of Thanksgiving at the 
		Cathedral.

Sunday, June 3, 2007
 Afternoon	Guided Tours of the Cathedral.
 2:00 PM	Interfaith Prayer Service.
 6:00 PM	Solemn Vespers and Benediction.
