Text Box: MESSAGE FROM
FATHER JENSON

“This is how all will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” These words of our Lord Jesus in our Gospel this weekend provide us with a challenge to be evangelical, not so much by preaching to everyone who passes by in our day, but by treating everyone we meet each day in a loving way. Actions speak louder than words. Talking about our faith, while not being loving toward others, empties our words of any real meaning in the eyes of others. Jesus wants us to make a real difference in our world with his help. Treating others in a loving way is an excellent way to be an effective servant of the Lord. With Jesus in our hearts from communion, we have the ability to be loving even with difficult people or in challenging circumstances.

We are now entering the season when our second graders will receive their First Holy Communion. This weekend children at St. Hedwig’s will receive their First Communion. I pray that this will be a time of spiritual awakening for them, and of spiritual renewal for their parents and families as they try to model the Christian faith for these children as they encounter Jesus for the first time in this sacrament. In the Holy Eucharist, we receive the strength to become truly loving throughout our day, not just when or with whom we want to be. This kind of love attracts the notice of those who are away from the Lord. Isn’t it awesome that our God works through us rather than doing it all on his own as he certainly could. Each of us makes a difference! Alleluia!
