THOUGHTS…..  

 

 

This weekend is Divine Mercy Sunday and the celebration of the Beatification of our former Pope John Paul II who died in 2005.  Pope John Paul II had a deep and unwavering faith in our Lord Jesus which empowered him to be one of the greatest popes of modern times.  We will honor his beatification, which will create the title of Blessed Pope John Paul II for him, with a special ceremony at Holy Cross this Sunday afternoon May 1^st at 1:00 PM.  There will be a special liturgy in the church followed by a wonderful social and cultural tribute to him in the auditorium of the school building at Holy Cross. 

 

As you know our Northeast Catholic School is named in honor of Pope John Paul II.  As our school’s patron is being honored this weekend with beatification, it is interesting that our school’s enrolment continues to grow for next year on its way to the largest enrollment in seven years.  I have to believe that Blessed Pope John Paul II is watching out for our school.

 

Also, our school’s Spring Gala Fundraiser is coming up quickly on Friday, May 13^th.  Our featured speaker will be Joel Maturi the head of the Athletic Department at the University of Minnesota.  In addition, Auxiliary Bishop Lee Piche will be in attendance. Be part of this star-studded evening.  It will be a fantastic opportunity for an evening you will long remember.  Come and support our school by attending the Spring Gala Fundraiser and at the same time give honor to Pope John Paul II by supporting the only Catholic school in this state that is named in his honor.  If you cannot attend please consider a donation to the event by contacting the school office or putting something in next Sunday’s collection at church.

POPE JOHN PAUL II’S BEATIFICATION - Join us for the celebration of Pope John Paul II’s Beatification with prayer and a program TODAY, Sunday, May 1 from 1:00 - 3:00 PM at Holy Cross Church and Pope John Paul II Catholic School.  Memorabilia of the “soon to be” Blessed Pope John Paul II will be displayed during the program.  Everyone is invited to attend!  Please meet in Church at 1:00 PM.  Program will follow in school auditorium.
