POPE JOHN PAUL II’S BEATIFICATION Join the celebration of Pope John Paul II’s Beatification with a prayer and program on Sunday, May 1 from 1:00 - 3:00 PM at Holy Cross and Pope John Paul II Catholic School.  We plan to display memorabilia people have of “soon to be” Blessed Pope John Paul II during the program.  If you have items such as pictures, Vatican announcements, etc., please call Janice at 612-789-7238 or email JFrakie at JFrakie@comcast.net.  Everyone is invited to attend!

“THANKS MOM FOR LIFE” MOTHER’S DAY CORSAGES - The English Altar and Rosary Guild is sponsoring “Thanks Mom for Life” corsages for Mother’s Day.  Advance sales will be one weekend only - April 30 and May 1.  Buy a ticket that you exchange on May 7 & 8 for a lovely Mother’s Day orchid corsage with attached pro-life message.  Donation is $5.00.  Tickets available at church entrances.  Limited corsages available - your advance ticket guarantees a lovely corsage.  Proceeds to pro-life activities.

GETTING TO KNOW YOU! - The Ladies Guilds of St. Anthony, St. Clement and St. Hedwig invite all ladies of our parish to join them in Getting To Know You on Wednesday, May 11, Guminga Hall at St. Hedwig’s Church, 129 - 29th Avenue N.E.  Social at 6:00 PM and dinner at 6:30 PM.  Cost is $6.00.  All ladies welcome.  RSVP by April 26th to Janice Godlewski at 612-789-7238.

THANK YOU to everyone who participated in the Bake Sale - our bakers, customers, workers and raffle participants.  $710.00 was raised for the parish Youth Group.  Raffle winners: Love Bug Afghan - Mary Joe Nickel,  Easter Basket - Eleanor Boeser, Pink Spa Basket - Hannah Totten, Picnic Basket - Mary Kozacz, Garden Basket - Tom Logelin. MANY THANKS - We thank all who donated $2,190.00       last weekend to the Medicine Fund at Our Lady of Good Counsel Free Cancer Home.  To all of you who gave so generously to the Almsgiving project during Lent, we thank you for your kindness.  You helped many, many people.

 

A HUGE THANK YOU - The Soup Committee wants to thank all who had a big part in making the Lenten Soup Supper a huge success.  Thanks go out to the morning crew who helped in soup preparation, the ladies who helped serve and clean up, the many bakers who made the delicious desserts and most of all to those who came and dined with us.  We are truly grateful to everyone who had a part in this project. - Ann Wandzel

PICTORIAL DIRECTORIES - Our Olan Mills Pictorial Directories have arrived.  All who had their photo taken in October can pick up a copy of the directory at the parish office weekdays from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

HOLY CROSS SENIOR GET TOGETHER - All Seniors are invited to join us at our Annual Senior “Get Together” on Friday, May 3.  Mass will be at 10:30 AM in the Church with lunch to follow in Kolbe Hall.  Cost is $10.00 and reservations are necessary.  Call 612-789-9168 (evenings).

PROCESSION AND MAY CROWNING - 125th Anniversary Event  Join us at 6:30 PM on Thursday, May 5 (the 125th day of the year) for a Procession and May Crowning.  The procession will be around the grounds and we will crown the statue of Mary located between the rectory and convent.  Seating will be available for those unable to participate in the procession.  Children carrying flowers will lead the procession as we all sing to Mary.  We’re looking for as many children and adults as possible to be in the procession.  The goal is 125+ participants.  Following the crowning and prayers, an Ice Cream Social will be held in Kolbe Hall.  In case of rain, the procession will be held in church.  Please let us know that you will join us by signing up at the University Avenue entrance of church or by calling the parish office weekdays at 612-789-7238.
