MESSAGE FROM

FATHER JENSON

This Sunday we celebrate Divine Mercy Sunday.  As we hear the story of Jesus’ appearance in the upper room to the apostles on Easter Night, and again, a week later, Divine Mercy Night, we see him making clear His intention to bring forgiveness of sins to us all.  His first words to the apostles were to bring His forgiveness of sins to the people.  That is why the Sacrament of Confession was instituted by the Church, because Jesus commissioned the apostles to forgive sins in His name.  We go to Jesus in a special way through that sacrament because he told the apostles that they would be a part of bringing forgiveness of sins to the world.  May we treasure the ability to have absolute assurance of forgiveness of sins in God’s eyes when we come to this beautiful sacrament.  It is a very great gift to have that assurance.

During the Easter Season many of our young people will also receive their First Holy Communion.  St. Hedwig’s First Communion is this Sunday, Holy Cross will be on May 10.  May God bless our young people as they encounter Jesus in this special and intimate way.  The Lord is Risen!  Truly He is Risen!  And may our young people rejoice as they meet him in this way for the very first time!

The Northeast Holy Name and Men’s Clubs are having their Annual French Toast Breakfast this morning at Kolbe Hall at Holy Cross.  Come and celebrate the Easter Season with Catholics from around Northeast and support the Holy Name Clubs in their good work for the Church in Northeast.
