Text Box: MESSAGE FROM
FATHER JENSON

This Sunday is Divine Mercy Sunday. It is the Octave Day of Easter Sunday and as such is a celebration to focus on the mercy of Jesus in bringing forgiveness of sins by his death and resurrection. Jesus showed how much he desired that the apostles should truly accept and believe in the fact of his resurrection by appearing a second time in the upper room to convince doubting Thomas that he was truly risen from the dead. Only once this is accepted and believed in can you truly know how much mercy is in the heart of God for each of us. By rising from the dead in his human body, Jesus, the Son of God, demonstrates his absolute union with us in his heart. To him, his humanity is as much a part of him as his divinity now. Therefore, no human being should ever doubt that Jesus loves them, no matter what life has thrown against them. Jesus lives, and Jesus loves us, and in his love he has overwhelming mercy for our sins and transgressions. As we think about world events, we can see our need for God to have mercy on us. There is an ocean of mercy waiting for us to claim it through our prayer for ourselves and others, and our dying to sin and striving to live the spirit filled life. Alleluia!

This weekend you will see financial reports with your bulletin. This is provided at the direction of the Archdiocese as a part of the planning process that is going on in our Archdiocese. It is intended to help everyone to see the condition of their parish financially and to better understand the need for planning for our future as a church throughout the whole Archdiocese. If you have any questions, feel free to contact your parish office or myself.

Breakfast: Next Sunday the Northeast Chapter of the Holy Name Society is hosting their annual French Toast Breakfast in Kolbe Hall at Holy Cross. I encourage you to come and support the men of our Northeast parishes in this wonderful fundraiser for the Northeast Food Shelf and our Northeast Catholic School. Come and feast and support some good causes at that same time. I’ll be there to greet you.

Father Glen Jenson, Pastor
