MESSAGE FROM

FATHER JENSON

As we hear the reading of the Gospel of the entry into Jerusalem at the beginning of mass this Sunday, where the people shouted Hosanna in the highest and threw palm branches on the ground for Jesus to ride into Jerusalem on, we enter Holy Week.  Palm Sunday is the first of the great liturgies of this most sacred week.  We hear the narration of our Lord’s betrayal, suffering, death and finally on Easter Sunday, his resurrection.  The liturgies of this week are all weaved together so that they become a whole piece taken together.

I encourage you all to try to make as many of these sacred and wonderful liturgies as you can.  You will find that in doing so the whole story of Jesus’ passion, death and resurrection make so much more sense and have much more impact, than simply to come to church on Easter Sunday without having walked with Jesus through all that he went through by means of these liturgies.  May everyone have a most blessed and rewarding Holy Week.

There are Morning Prayer Services each morning of the Triduum at St. Anthony Church at 9:30 AM instead of daily mass which cannot be offered during the high holy days.  The Morning Prayer Services are a beautiful way to prepare on Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Holy Saturday for the great services later in the day.

Father Glen Jenson, Pastor
