CATHOLIC SERVICES APPEAL - Thank you to those who have responded to the Catholic Services Appeal. The goal of the campaign is to have more people give rather than people give more. If you have been unable to give a gift in the past, please consider a gift this year. 25% of all contributions are returned to Holy Cross. As of today we have received $15,582 or 55% of our goal of $28,263. 33% of our parishioners have responded. Thank you! |
MESSAGE FROM FATHER JENSON We are moving into the second half of Lent as we observe Laetare, or Rejoice, Sunday - the fourth Sunday of Lent. In the Gospel Nicodemus has come to Jesus at night to ask him questions and to try to understand him better. Jesus reveals to him that He has come as God’s son to take away the sins of the world as an expression of God’s intense love for us. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son that everyone who believes in Him might not perish, but might have eternal life.” It is death to turn from the Lord the scriptures assure us. But God seeks us out, and if we will stop running from Him, he will gladly enfold us in His loving arms and bring us to a new and better life of love, here below, and above eternally. May our Lenten observances help us to scrape away the rust of bad habits and spiritual sloth, and energize us to seek the Lord in new and deeper ways. May our Blessed Mother assist us in this effort always. The Feast of the Annunciation is this Wednesday. On it we celebrate the conception of Jesus by Mary when Gabriel came to announce to her that she would conceive God’s son. Come and celebrate this wonderful event of our salvation. On this feast day, Christmas Day is exactly nine months away. Father Glen Jenson, Pastor |
