MESSAGE FROM

FATHER JENSON

In our Gospel this Sunday we see the Lord Jesus giving vent to righteous anger over the lukewarm faith of the people.  They had become so casual about the arrangements for the sacrifices in the temple that for convenience sake they began to bring the animals to sell for sacrifices into the temple area,  They allowed money changers in as well to enable visiting Jews to exchange currency to be able to buy animals for sacrifice onto the temple grounds as well.  The degree of anger in Jesus is evident in his actions, overturning tables, driving out the money changers and the animals with a whip of cords.  Jesus was very angry at the indifference to the sacredness of the temple and their willingness to put their personal convenience over the respect that is due to the things of God.  May our Lenten practices help to renew a sense of the sacred in our hearts and the need to appreciate what an awesome gift we have from God in being able to approach him so easily in Church and in daily prayer.

One way to work on recovering a sense of the awesome majesty of God would be to attend the closing of 40 Hours Devotion ceremony at Holy Cross.  This is a grand event aimed precisely at exalting the glory of God who is present in the Blessed Sacrament in our tabernacles.  The service is at 4:00 PM and lasts about 45 minutes or so.  The choirs from all three of our tri-parishes will take part as well as from neighboring parishes.  Come and taste and majesty of the Lord, bring your children!

LENTEN ALMSGIVING PROJECT - Thank you for your donation this weekend of non-perishable food items for the Senior Food Shelf.  Next week, March 21 & 22, we will be collecting food service products - napkins, plastic silverware, cups, plates, paper towels, diapers, baby formula and any sized blankets for People Serving People - emergency housing.  God bless you for your great response and generosity.

CATHOLIC SERVICES APPEAL - Thank you to those who have responded to the Catholic Services Appeal.  The goal of the campaign is to have more people give rather than people give more.  If you have been unable to give a gift in the past, perhaps a $10 or $20 gift is possible this year.  25% of all contributions are returned to Holy Cross.  Thank you!

BAKE SALE - Holy Cross will once again be having their All Parish Bake Sale on Saturday, April 4th after 4:30 Mass and Sunday, April 5th after all the morning Masses in Kolbe Center.  Mark your calendar and start looking for your favorite bake sale recipes!
