THE CATHOLIC SERVICES APPEAL (CSA) needs your help.  Christ has no body now on Earth but yours; no hands but yours; no feet but yours.  Yours is the body through which He is to go about doing good; yours are the hands with which He is to bless people now.  The Catholic Services Appeal is a very practical means of “doing good”. Please use the envelopes that were mailed to you or the ones at the doors of the church to make your donation.  Thus far we have received gifts and pledges totaling $13,352 or 53% of our goal.  The 2010 Catholic Services Appeal is the way by which every Catholic shares in the work of our Archdiocese and the mission of the Church.  Our work is providing Catholic Schools for our children, faith formation in our parishes, and with the guidance of Catholic Charities, we feed the poor.

Text Box: MESSAGE FROM
FATHER JENSON

This Sunday we hear the parable of the Prodigal Son in the Gospel. This parable of our Lord reminds us of the incredible mercy of God toward anyone who sincerely repents of sinful ways. The fact that God teaches us about his mercy reminds us that God takes sin very seriously. Therefore mercy is needed for us if we are to have God’s support in our lives and know eternal joy in heaven. Repentance is what brings us the mercy of God which can overwhelm his divine justice regarding sin. During Lent, may we all make good use of the sacrament of Confession to open up our hearts to sincere repentance so that we can experience the mercy of God in our heart even now.

Don’t forget about the Lenten Soup Suppers and Fish Fry’s at Holy Cross each week. Soup Suppers are Wednesdays from 4:30 to 7:00PM and Fish Fry’s are Fridays from 5:00 to 7:00PM. Both dinners are in Kolbe Hall.

This Friday, March 19 is the Feast of St. Joseph. Auxiliary Bishop Lee Piche will be at our school, Pope John Paul II, for the school mass at 2:15 and then visit classrooms afterwards. What an honor for our school. You are welcome to come and worship with our students at this special mass with the bishop. May St. Joseph pray for us.

LENTEN ALMSGIVING PROJECT - Thank you for your donation this weekend of breakfast food items for St. Joseph’s Home for Children.  Next weekend, March 20 & 21, we will be collecting non-perishable food items for Sharing & Caring Hands.  God bless you for your great response and generosity.

FORTY HOURS THANK YOU -  Our Forty Hours Devotion and Closing Ceremony was a wonderful experience for our parish this past weekend.  The sight of so many of our people in church adoring the Lord in the Blessed Sacrament was inspiring to see.  The beauty and majesty of the closing ceremony was awe inspiring.  Many people have commented to me about it, including visitors.  I want to thank everyone who helped to make this such an impressive and faith enhancing experience for our parish.  The decoration of the church, the fabulous music, all the servers who came to help, the many people who helped prepare the receptions afterwards, all of you played such an important part in making this one of the finest faith experiences in our Archdiocese.

God bless you all! - Fr. Glen

FAMILY HOLY HOUR - Join other families from our diocese for a Family Holy Hour, today, Sunday, March 14th at Holy Cross.  Father Allan Paul Eilen of St. Elizabeth Seton Church will lead the Holy Hour - a special afternoon of music, prayer, Adoration, Benediction and reflection.  Confessions start at 2:15 PM and Adoration at 3:00 PM.  Bring a snack to share! Families should plan to enjoy fellowship in Kolbe Hall after prayer.
