MESSAGE FROM

FATHER JENSON

Our readings this Sunday contain the stories of the Sacrifice of Isaac and the Transfiguration of Jesus.  The glory of Jesus which Peter, James and John were allowed to see was the glory of the son who was willing to give his life for the sins of others.  Abraham was tested by the command to offer his son in sacrifice, but this was not actually expected of him as God provided a ram to offer instead.  God did not provide a substitute for Jesus as there was no one or nothing that could replace His son’s redemptive death for our sins.  That God intended to pay the price for our sins was foreshadowed in the story of the Sacrifice of Isaac.

That God will forgive our sins when we are truly repentant is absolutely trustworthy in light of this story.  That we must have our sins forgiven to enter heaven is equally clear.  Why else would God have sent His son from heaven to be offered in sacrifice for our sins if sins did not have to be forgiven and atoned for in order for any of us to enter heaven.  The Sacrament of Confession is the way in which we seek and receive the forgiveness of God for our sins and the healing power to change those things we confess.

LENTEN ALMSGIVING PROJECT - Thank you for your generous donation this weekend of new socks for men, woman and children for Sharing & Caring Hands.  Next week, March 14-15, we will be collecting non-perishable food items for the Senior Food Shelf.  God bless you for your continued generosity.

ADORATION CHAPEL HOURS FOR FORTY HOURS - The Adoration Chapel will be closed during Forty Hours March 13, 14 and 15 so that adoration can be in church.  The chapel will reopen on Monday, March 16th.

WELCOME - We welcome Christopher Brand as our new organist and Choir Director.  Christopher comes to Holy Cross through Father Glen who previously worked with him at St. Anthony Parish.  His first weekend Masses at Holy Cross are the 8:00 & 10:00 Masses on March 8.
