FATHER GLEN’S

THOUGHTS…..

In our readings for this Sunday the Lord Jesus calls us to follow his teachings to be righteous in God’s eyes.  Through faith in Jesus we have good standing with God if we follow the teachings of Jesus in our daily lives.  His law of love may sound easier than keeping the Ten Commandments perfectly, but living love each day toward everyone and in all situations is no easy task.  As Lent begins this week on Ash Wednesday, we have an opportunity to use this holy season as a time to focus on how well we live Jesus’ law of love each day and to use the days of Lent to grow in our faithfulness to the example of Jesus.  May the season of Lent bring forth fresh growth in faith and love like the spring greenery that we long to see outside.  May our Lady help us to make good use of the season of Lent in the sight of her son Jesus.

This Tuesday, March 8th there will be the great annual Sauerkraut Supper at Holy Cross.  This Northeast institution is an event that is not to be missed.  I look forward to seeing many of you there for a wonderful evening of Mardi Gras celebration before we begin our Lenten fasting!

Also, mark your calendars for the close of 40 Hours Eucharistic Devotion at Holy Cross on Sunday, March 27th at 4:00 PM.  This is a magnificent liturgy of a type that you do not normally have a chance to see.  Bring the family and friends and prepare to see devotion to the real presence of Jesus done on a grand scale!

CATHOLIC SERVICES APPEAL - Your gift to 2011 Catholic Services Appeal reaches out to the countless people in need throughout our Archdiocese.  No matter where you turn, you find someone who will benefit from your kindness.  Please consider pledging your support to this worthwhile endeavor.  Of course, if you do not give generously the work of the Church will be diminished.

THANK YOU TO THE POLISH ROSARY SOCIETY for the gift of $500.00 to the Parish.  The funds were raised at the recent Bake Sale & Raffle.  May God bless you for your kindness and generosity!

40 HOURS EUCHARISTIC DEVOTION

In honor of our 125th Anniversary, Forty Hours Eucharistic Devotion will be in Church.  In previous years we have not actually had a full forty hours of adoration which is so much a part of this Eucharistic devotion.  Not only will we restore a full 40 hours but we will do these hours of devotion in our beautiful church.

We will begin with Mass on Thursday, March 24 at 5:30 PM.  Adoration will begin immediately following until 11:00 PM.  Friday morning the 25th through Saturday morning the 26th we will have 24 hours of Adoration in the Church.  We would like additional adorers during the quiet night hours from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM.  These are the tough hours and Fr. Glen will take the 2:00 to 3:00 AM hour.  Father challenges the younger adult members of our parish to follow his lead in signing up for these more challenging night hours.   Saturday morning, March 26, adoration will begin following 8:00 AM Mass and continue until 4:00 PM.  Adoration will resume on Sunday afternoon at 12:30 until the 40 Hours Closing Ceremony at 4:00 PM.

The Adoration Covent Chapel will be closed during 40 Hours Devotion in Church.  Please adore in Church.  Sign up sheets are located at the University entrance of Church.
