Text Box: BULLETIN CONNECTION

Lent began just a few days ago, and already the Gospel is reminding us of temptations that are a part of our human existence. Jesus, as one “like us in all things but sin” (Eucharistic Prayer IV), was subject to temptation as well. Our Lent begins with a reminder that our God is incarnate in Christ Jesus. He took on our flesh, our human existence.

It may be odd to begin Lent by recalling the incarnation. That’s usually a Christmas theme. But as we begin Lent we remind ourselves that the flip side of incarnation is at work in us who will renew our baptism at Easter, as well as in those who will be baptized. For it is through baptism that we share in divine life.
