SOUP SUPPERS - You are invited to join the English Altar and Rosary Guild for delicious Soup Suppers served on the Wednesdays during Lent beginning February 24 from 4:30 to 7:00 PM in Kolbe Hall.  Enjoy homemade soup, bread, dessert, coffee or milk.  Adults $5.00, children $2.00.  Chili will be served this week.

FISH FRY’S -  Holy Cross Church Fish Fry’s every Friday during Lent except for Good Friday, 5:00 to 7:00 PM in Kolbe Center.  Fish, French Fries or Baked Potato, Cole Slaw, Roll, Butter, Coffee or Milk.  Macaroni and Cheese is available.  Adults $10, under 12 - $5.00.

CELEBRATING 350 YEARS - In 2010, two of the most beloved Polish composers, Fryderyk Chopin and Ignacy Jan Paderewski, celebrate landmark birthdays. To commemorate these anniversaries PACIM, with The Saint Paul Conservatory of Music and Wells Pianos, will present a unique concert featuring today’s piano prodigies of the Twin Cities at the Church of the Holy Cross on Sunday, February 28 at 1:30 PM.  Directly after the performance is a tea and cakes reception to meet the performers in Kolbe Hall. Tickets are $5 at www.pacim.org and will be available at the door.

 

THE HOLY CROSS PARISH ACTIVITIES COMMITTEE thanks everyone who helped make last Tuesday’s Sauerkraut Supper a wonderful event.  910 adult dinners and 31 youth dinners were served.  Thanks to our guests and thanks to everyone who worked.  We are grateful for the generous hearts and hours of work given by the many volunteers.  The committee can plan the event but you make it happen.  God bless you!

MARK YOUR CALENDAR NOW  - Please join the Church of the Holy Cross in an organ recital of J.S. Bach’s organ pieces to honor the composer on the 325th anniversary of his birth.  Recitalists are:  Kraig Windschitl, Brad Schultz, Jeffrey Patry, John Salvenson and our church organist - Chris Brand.  The mini marathon will be held on Sunday, March 21st from 2:00 to 5:00 PM in the church.  Come when you can, stay as long as you like.

WOMEN’S RETREAT -  Join Bishop Piché for a Lenten Women’s Retreat “Blessed Mary and the Ministry of Compassion: Our Lady at the Foot of the Cross” on Saturday, March 13th, 9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 515 S. POLANIE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM - The Polanie Club of Minneapolis and St. Paul is once again offering a limited number of $2,000 scholarships for academic year 2010 - 2011.   Qualifying applicants are U.S. citizens or permanent residents of Polish-American ancestry who are Minnesota residents with a GPA of 2.8 or better.  Scholarships will be available to applicants 18-25 who are seeking financial aid for education beyond high school.  To request an application go to the Polanie Club web site: www.polanieclubmplsstpaul.com.
