CATHOLIC SERVICES APPEAL - Thank you to those who returned their pledges for the Catholic Services Appeal today.  For those of you continuing to prayerfully respond, we ask that you return your pledge form to Mass next weekend.  Your pledge will touch the lives of so many needs in our parish.  As a reminder, our parish receives 25% of all gifts made through our parish.  The need has never been greater and your response is greatly appreciated.  The goal this year is not to have people give more, but to have more people give.  “We are one body, one body in Christ.”

PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY - The Prayer Shawl Ministry will not meet in February because of the Sauerkraut Supper on Tuesday, February 24th.  The next meeting will be Tuesday, March 31st.

PARISH OFFICE CLOSED - The Parish Office will be closed on Monday, February 16th in observance of the President’s Day holiday.  The office will reopen on Tuesday, February 17th at 8:00 AM.

THANK YOU - The Polish Rosary Society would like to thank all who participated in making their Bake Sale and Raffle a success.  The Raffle winners are: Candy Dish and Candy - Bogdan Remiarz, Tailgating Kit - Alina Jambor.  We appreciate everyone’s support.

2008 RELIGIOUS RETIREMENT COLLECTION - To the Holy Cross Parish Community - In December you were asked to Share in the Care of retired religious and in these uncertain financial times, you generously contributed $1,444.00.  Thank you!  May God bless you abundantly.  Sister Midge Breiter, SSND, Archdiocesan RFFR Coordinator.

Text Box: MESSAGE FROM
FATHER JENSON

The healing power of God is made clear in our readings this Sunday. Sometimes I have seen transforming changes take place in people who have endured sickness or other suffering in their life with the help of their faith, and the confidence and consolation that it brings them. Sometimes, I have seen actual healing take place that otherwise was not expected by the doctors. The sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick is a powerful way to open up to the desire of God to be with someone who is suffering physically and to bring them His comfort in the way He knows they will most benefit from, for their salvation. Don’t be afraid to call a priest to receive this beautiful sacrament of the God through His Church.

With Lent drawing near, this is a good time to be thinking and prayerfully considering what would make a good Lenten program for this year. Attending daily mass more often, Bible reading, a daily rosary, or an additional rosary for others needs, volunteering around the parish or in the community, would all be good things to consider adding for Lent. Fasting from certain things helps to strengthen the will if we combine it with prayer to link it in our minds and hearts with spiritual growth, as well as showing sorrow for sin, our own of the past, and that of the whole world. Lent is spring training for Christians. Let’s get ready for a great season!

Father Glen Jenson, Pastor
