FATHER GLEN’S

THOUGHTS…..

Our readings this Sunday speak of the wisdom of God and our need for it in our lives.  Jesus’ statements in the Gospel raise the expectations for the faithful in how we deal with people and situations in our lives.  He expects more from those who are faithful because he will provide what we need to live up to the higher standards of love that he calls us to through our faith.  To meet the Lord half way we need to be serious in our prayer life and determined to try to live virtuous and grace filled lives.

We prepare to enter the season of Lent in a few weeks.  Take some time to think about what areas of our lives need to change in order to open up to God’s call to virtuous and grace filled lives in his eyes.  Praying for others is a good way to begin.  When we think about the needs that others have to deal with problems in their lives and bringing those to the Lord on their behalf, can enlarge our ability to care for the people around us and when that happens, we begin to change in ways that we never would have thought of.

This Sunday there is a benefit Pancake Breakfast at St. Clement’s Church from 8:00-12:00noon on behalf of our school, Pope John Paul II.  Please come and join me at this event on behalf of Catholic education in our area.

Next Saturday, February 19th there will be an evening for married couples at Kolbe Hall, the bi-annual Cana Evening. Reservation required by Feb. 15 (612-789-7238).  You can come for the 4:30 PM Mass at Holy Cross and then go down for the social, dinner and program, or, join everyone between 5:30 and 6:15P M at Kolbe Hall for the social and the events to follow.  I will be the presenter of the program for couples for this evening.  It will be a wonderful evening of renewal for couples.  Come and share the love!
