Text Box: MESSAGE FROM
FATHER JENSON

In our Gospel this Sunday we hear the Lord commissioning the apostles to become fishers of men. Many of the apostles were fishermen by trade, ordinary men with ordinary jobs. Yet the Lord Jesus considered them to be suitable to become preachers of the Word of God and the first priests of the Church Jesus came to establish. No matter what we may think of ourselves, or others, no one is too lowly or unimportant to serve the Lord in any way that he calls us. God’s grace can enable anyone to be a servant of the Lord.

Let us pray that those the Lord is calling to serve him in the priesthood and religious life will open their hearts to the call of the Lord and be willing to be put out into the deep waters of service in the Church, undaunted by self doubt or fear of not being capable. It is a fascinating life!

This weekend is the kick off for the Catholic Services Appeal. This is a very important means of supporting many of the ministries and services provided by the Church around the Archdiocese, including our schools and the seminary. Please be as generous as you can.

Father Glen Jenson, Pastor

CATHOLIC SERVICES APPEAL - Get ready to give.  The Catholic Services Appeal supports the work of the Catholic Church by responding to the abundance of human needs in our diocese.  Your gift to the Appeal provides much needed help to those in need and is an opportunity to join a unified effort in our Archdiocese to advance the mission and ministry of the Catholic Church.  Take a moment to consider the many blessings that God has bestowed upon you and prayerfully consider what gifts you are able to share in support of the work of the Church.  Please consider pledging your support to this worthwhile endeavor.

ENGLISH ALTAR & ROSARY GUILD MEETING -  The English Altar & Rosary Guild will meet on Monday, February 8th at 7:00 PM in Kolbe Center.  Women of the parish interested in learning more about the Rosary Guild are welcome to join us on Monday night.  Refreshments by Rose 109.

BAPTISM CLASSES - Baptism class is required for parents and Godparents before the desired date.  If you are planning to attend a class, you will need to call the Holy Cross Parish Office at 612-789-7238 to register.  The next class is Tuesday, February 9th at 7:00 PM at St. Hedwig’s River Village, 29th and Randolph St. N.E.

SPAGHETTI DINNER -  A Spaghetti Dinner and Raffles to benefit Pope John Paul II Catholic School will be held from 4:30 to 7:00 PM on Sat., February 6th in Holy Cross Kolbe Hall.  $8.00 for adults, $6.00 seniors and grade 8 and younger.  Enjoy a delicious spaghetti dinner and support Catholic education!  Everyone is welcome!

WE NEED YOUR HELP -  THANKS!  - We would like to sincerely thank all of our friends, the organizers, the sponsors, and the participants in the benefit dinner and silent auction organized for January 31, 2010, from which the income will be used to help pay our healthcare costs.  We are very grateful to everyone.  God bless!  Wanda Ziach and Bozena Janczuk

HOLY CROSS FISH FRY’S return on all Fridays during Lent except for Good Friday beginning February 19th.  Worker sign-up sheets for the Fish Fry’s are the University Avenue entrance of the Church.  Your help will be greatly appreciated.
