POPE JOHN PAUL ll CELEBRATION - Pope John Paul II will be beatified on May 1st.  Pope John Paul II Catholic School is planning a celebration in honor of the event.  The celebration will be held at the school on Sunday, May 1.  We have formed a committee to begin planning.  We hope to involve our parish partners and the Northeast Catholic Community in the planning.  Committee members will begin meeting in mid-March.  If you are interested in serving on the committee, please contact Debbie King at dking@popejohnpaul2school.org.  You may also leave a message at the school office (612-789-8851).  Please leave your name, phone number, parish and email address.  Pope John Paul - pray for us!

FAMILY ADORATION AT HOLY CROSS - Plan to join other families from our diocese for a Family Holy Hour next Sunday, Feb. 13.  Father Joseph Menker will lead the Holy Hour - a special afternoon of music, prayer, Adoration, Benediction and reflection.  Confessions start at 2:15 PM and Adoration at 3:00 PM.  Bring a snack to share.  Fellowship to follow.

SPAGHETTI DINNER - a Spaghetti Dinner and Raffles to benefit Pope John Paul II Catholic School will be held from 4:30 to 7:00 PM on Saturday, February 5th in Holy Cross Kolbe Center.  $8.00 for adults and children (grades 9-12); $6.00 for seniors (60) & children (grade 8 and under); $30 family (2 adults/children under 17).  Enjoy a delicious spaghetti dinner and support Catholic education!  Everyone is welcome.

THOUGHTS…..  

 

 

In our Gospel this Sunday we are urged to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world.  Our way of living is to open the eyes of our neighbors and enable them to see the goodness of God because of how he enables us to act.

 

Having just come back from retreat, I have been reminded that if we make real time for God in our day, he will be able to make real change take place in our lives.  We have about a month until the beginning of Lent.  These are good days to try to work on some real steps toward growth in our relationship with Jesus and those around us.  If we give this a real effort during these days before Lent, we may find what we need to work on in Lent to make that season a time of real conversion and growth.

 

This Saturday, Feb. 5, is our school’s Spaghetti Supper fund raiser at Kolbe Hall on the campus of Holy Cross from 4:30-7:00PM.  Come and join in supporting our school and celebrating Catholic Schools Week. 

 

Next Sunday, Feb. 13^th there will be the annual Pancake Breakfast at St. Clement’s Church for our school.  Both events will be very tasty and support a wonderful cause!

DAY OF PRAYER - St. John’s Abbey in Collegeville, MN, is hosting a Benedictine Day of Prayer on Friday, February 18, on the topic of “Discernment of Spirits.”  The day begins at 7 AM and concludes around 3:30 PM and includes breakfast and lunch.  The cost for the day is $50.  To register, call the Abbey Spiritual Life Office at 320-363-3929 or register on-line at www.abbeyguesthouse.org and click on retreats.
