DAY OF PRAYER - St. John’s Abbey in Collegeville, MN, is hosting a Benedictine Day of Prayer on Friday, February 18, on the topic of “Discernment of Spirits.”  The day begins at 7 AM and concludes around 3:30 PM and includes breakfast and lunch.  The cost for the day is $50.  To register, call the Abbey Spiritual Life Office at 320-363-3929 or register on-line at www.abbeyguesthouse.org and click on retreats.

UPCOING EVENTS

Open House and Kindergarten Night on Thursday, February 3, 6:00-7:30 PM for NEW families with children entering Grades K-8 in the fall of 2011.  All new families are invited to meet our teachers and staff. 

Spaghetti Dinner & Raffle Saturday, February 5 from 4:30 to 7:00 PM in Kolbe Center.  $8.00 for adults and children (grades 9-12); $6.00 for seniors (60) & children (grade 8 and under); $30 family (2 adults/children under 17).  Catholic Aid Association Car Raffle - $5 a chance.  Basket Raffle - $1.00 a chance.  Chances for both raffles are available at the school.

Pancake Breakfast Sunday, February 13 at St. Clement Church, 911-24th Avenue N.E. from 8:00 AM to 12:00 Noon.  $6.00 for adults; $3.00 for children.  The proceeds benefit Pope John Paul II School.

BAKE SALE - The Polish Rosary Society will host a Bake Sale and Raffle on Saturday, February 12 after the 4:30 Mass and Sunday, February 13 after all morning Masses in Kolbe Center.  Donations from parishioners will be greatly appreciated and may be brought to Kolbe Center on Saturday, February 12th after 12:00 Noon.

Purchase Cana Dinner tickets and see samples of the 125th Anniversary note cards and the “Honor Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow” personalized brass plaques in church on January 30, February 5 & 6 and at Coffee & Donuts in Kolbe Hall on February 13.  The plaque can also be seen on our website: www.ourholycross.com.  All 125th Anniversary plaque ordered placed by Feb. 22 will be mounted in the Hall of Faith (located in the hallway behind Kolbe kitchen) by March 7.  Other order deadlines are April 4, June 6, August 22, and November 14.

CANA CELEBRATION for married couples will be Saturday, February 19.  Evening begins with Mass at 4:30 PM in Church.  Following will be a social in Kolbe Hall, Chicken & Beef Dinner, Speaker and Entertainment.  Tickets are $35.00/couple and available after Mass this and next weekend, at the parish office weekdays 612-789-7238, at 612-788-0869 or by email at dehlernk@aol.com. What is a Cana Dinner?  The wedding feast at Cana was the occasion of Christ’s first miracle.  The celebration  emphasizes the sacred importance our Lord gives to marriage.

DON’T EAT YOUR SPAGHETTI AT HOME!  A Camp Bovey Alumni and Pre-Race Spaghetti Dinner will be held on Friday, February 4, from 5:00-7:00 PM at East Side Neighborhood Services, 1700-2nd Street N.E., Minneapolis.  Dinner is $5 per person; tickets will be available the night of the event.  ESNS invites all community members, Camp Bovey alumni and snowshoe racers to attend.  The Spaghetti Dinner is a pre-race event in conjunction with the Twin Cities Snowshoe Shuffle taking place the following morning, Saturday, February 5 at Long Lake Regional Park, 1500 Old Highway 8 in New Brighton.  The race begins at 10 AM.  All proceeds from both events benefit Camp Bovey, East Side Neighborhood Services’ Summer Youth Camp located in Gordon, Wisconsin.  Camp Bovey provides outdoor living and leadership development for children ages 8 to 14.  For more information call ESNS at 612-781-6011.

PROFESSOR SHELDON ANDERSON - On Sunday, Feb. 13 at 1:00 PM in Kolbe Center, Sheldon Anderson, Professor at Miami of Ohio who specializes in 20th Century Poland will give a talk: General Jaruzelski a Traitor?  This event is co-sponsored by PACIM and the Holy Cross Polish Committee.  The event is free.  For information call Judith 763-571-9602.
