Text Box: PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY UPDATE

The Prayer Shawl Ministry deeply appreciates the wonderful thank you notes from those who have been comforted by their prayer shawl. We continue to pray for you.

SHAWLS: Since the Holy Cross Prayer Shawl Ministry started last May, over 32 handmade prayer shawls have been given to parishioners in need of prayers and comfort. Shawls are crafted with prayers and are blessed by Father David before they are presented. If you know of someone (man, woman or child) who is in need of the warm comfort of prayer through a shawl, please contact the Parish Office. In order to avoid duplicate requests, we ask that you leave information on who is requesting the shawl as well as who is receiving the shawl.

DONATIONS WELCOME: The women who are making the shawls are personally buying the materials they use. If other parishioners would like to help with this ministry, donations of cash and/or new 4ply soft yarn are welcome and appreciated. Shawls take 5 or 6 skeins of yarn. To make a donation, please label the envelope “Prayer Shawl” and place it in the collection basket. Yarn may be dropped off in the back of church in the box marked “Yarn for Prayer Shawls.”

JOIN US: You are invited to join us - all skills are needed (sew, crochet, knit, fleece tie, sewing labels). We meet the last Tuesday of each month at 6:30 PM in the Parish Library. If you would like to work at home, just stop by a meeting to see the shawls and to get copies of prayers, patterns/ideas and size guidelines. For more information, contact the Parish Office at 612-789-7238 or Mary at 612-379-9040.

PEACE MASS - The next peace Mass will be at Holy Cross on Tuesday, January 29.  Rosary at 6:30 PM and Mass at 7:00 PM.  Receive a copy of our Blessed Virgin Mary’s message given to the world at Medjugorje just six hours before.  Refreshments to follow.

DEVOTIONS - First Saturday Devotions will be held here at Holy Cross on Saturday, February 1 at 7:45 AM with praying of the first three decades of the Rosary and Mass at 8:00 AM.  After Mass our devotions will continue with the final decades of the Rosary, prayer and meditation.  All are invited.

THE LIGHT WEIGH AT HOLY CROSS - Are you tired of constantly struggling with your weight?  Tired of following diets like they were religious?  Consider giving God a chance to touch your heart, your life and your eating.  A “Light Weigh” orientation will be held on Monday, February 25 at 5:30 PM in the Parish Library located in the school basement (use the blue door).  Come find out about The Light Weigh Bible Study and video series, and how this program has been a blessing to others.  For more information check out their website at www.lightweigh.com
